Human Resources

Talent comes from many places. Sometimes it’s acquired from outside; other times it’s grown from within. Either way, we made a lot of progress in 2007 and we’re better prepared for 2008.

Leslie Anderson, Human Resources (HR) Assistant Manager in the Ballston Spa, N.Y., Operation Center can speak to this firsthand. Leslie helped lead the National Puerto Rican Coalition’s College 2 Career (C2C) Leadership Development Program in New Jersey, sponsored by State Farm.

This program brought college students to the Parsippany, N.J., Operations Center to talk about opportunities and benefits offered to State Farm employees.

“We did more than prepare them for the future,” said Leslie. “These students saw why this is a great place to work. When they graduate, State Farm will be fresh in their minds.”

State Farm-sponsored programs, like C2C, are occurring all over the country. We also strengthened our recruiting efforts by introducing a new Careers Web site Enterprise-wide in 2007.

The site features video streaming and employee testimonials to showcase opportunities, share our Company’s history, and attract talent.

With an increased focus on recruiting and retaining talent, HR will finish its staffing project in 2008 – a way to streamline internal and external posting Companywide.
