As a child, six-year Claim Representative Nick Meehan didn’t think about the value of speaking English and Spanish.
“I grew up in Mexico, but my mother spoke English, so I always lived in a bilingual home,” Nick said.
“Our job is much more than handling claims in Spanish. We have a great opportunity to educate our customers about insurance – something we take for granted.”
– Nick Meehan, Fire Claim Representative
“Nuestro trabajo no es solamente el trámite de reclamos en español. Tenemos la extraordinaria oportunidad de educar a nuestros clientes acerca de la industria de seguros – algo en lo que no siempre reflexionamos”.
– Nick Meehan, Representante de Reclamos de Vivienda.
He now realizes the skill he took for granted is setting a higher standard of service for many customers in Texas.
Nick works on a small team in the Austin Operations Center, which handles all Spanish language fire claims. Nick and his team also extend their services to agents, their team members, and other coworkers.
“Ultimately this level of specialized customer service helps us grow our business,” Nick said. “We hear from customers all the time that by speaking their language, they feel more comfortable to work with State Farm, tell others about State Farm, and trust that we’re really here to help.”
