Georgia agent Bruce Gant’s method of marketing State Farm Visa cards is all about rental cars.
The 28-year State Farm agent says he’ll talk to a younger customer about comprehensive and collision coverage in their Auto policy.
“I go over automobile rental and how the deductible and coverage works in those cases,” Bruce said. “The rental company’s going to suggest buying coverage to eliminate paying the deductible in case of an accident.”
Bruce always lets them know if they have a State Farm Platinum Rewards Visa, that deductible is free.
“I don’t try to talk people into another credit card, I just tell them what this card can do for them.”

“I was able to save a customer over $25 a day, the cost of rental insurance, during their vacation. All I had to do was explain the rewards our Visa card offers. They were thrilled – and who wouldn’t be? An extra $25 a day on vacation can go a long way!”
Some customers aren’t always aware of those types of benefits, Bruce said. He and his staff make it their mission to inform them. In 2007, his office continued to revise their system after it led the Enterprise in Visa card production in ’06.
“The success we’ve had has been agent-motivated, but staff-driven,” Bruce said.
