What's your favorite part about being a State Farm agent?
Agent Ed Schadler: I guess it would be visiting with and my association with a lot of people that have been with me many years. I was told that, at the end of the year, I’ve had four living policyholders that’s been with me since 1948. And I mean some of the younger ones talked to me when I’ve been to their parents’ home when they were babies and when they…the lecture I gave them when they started driving. I guess they bring back the old times to me.
What do you remember about the early days?
Ed: Most of the time on dining room or kitchen tables—I’ve even written applications on the hood of a car. I know years ago, it might have been in the early 50’s—one time I wrote nine new autos from about 4:30 till 9:30 or so that night. I thought that was a good evening.
Do you have any plans to slow down?
Ed: Not really. I don’t see any good reason at this point. I mean, the day will come, but not right now.
