The Actuarial department develops State Farm’s insurance coverage’s and rates.  Separate actuarial functions specialize in Property & Casualty or Life & Health insurance. 

Property and Casualty (Auto and Fire)
Do you want to learn how to predict the future?  If so, come join our highly acclaimed Property & Casualty Actuarial department as an analyst or technician.  Our aim is to make State Farm the customer’s first and best choice for insurance products.  We look for creative, resourceful, problem-solving people who desire challenge, continual development, and the opportunity to succeed.  Actuaries and support staff are involved in the very heart of the Enterprise:  making pricing recommendations to meet our financial and marketing objectives; performing research to determine new factors to include in our rating plan; dealing with field offices and corporate departments such as Systems, Legal, Underwriting, and Executives; working with state regulators to implement new products, rating plans, and rate levels; and developing new analysis tools for use by other associates.

Life & Health
State Farm is a leader in the insurance and financial services industry.  In order for us to maintain that leadership position, we look for creative resourceful, problem-solving people who desire challenge, continual development, and the opportunity to succeed to work in our Life/Health Actuarial Department.  Working both the Life and Health insurance fields offers ample opportunity for actuarial candidates.  Designing and launching new products, modeling assets and liabilities, reviewing all facets of experience studies, understanding the implications of new regulations and tax law changes are some of the opportunities existing for actuaries at State Farm.  We provide financial support and study time at work to encourage successful pursuit of the FSA designation.  Department management is accessible and focused on providing challenging assignments and development opportunities to all employees.
