When a new person comes to State Farm, what we do is try to match their skills to the position, get them into the right place.
I’m a technical analyst on the cryptography team … called Cryptographic Services and Technology.
I’m a program director of software development here at State Farm.
I am primary lead on biometric technologies.
At State Farm you make your own career path. It’s up to you to decide. You do your research. You take what opportunities are available in regards to class work or mentoring relationships with other people in the direction or in the area that you want to move into.
We’re allowed to cross-train and move across the different teams and learn more and be
able to maybe even make a move to a different career choice we if we choose to.
There’s always a new area that you can move to once you’ve achieved what you wanted in your particular area.
So not only opportunity to move around to different areas and support different types of applications or different types of technologies, but tremendous opportunity to advance within the organization as well.
We’re definitely looking for people who are best in class, quite frankly world class at what they do. We need that kind of talent to pull off the challenges and opportunities that we have.
If you’re interested in a particular field, don’t make the assumption that we don’t offer it because we’re insurance and financial services. Take a look and ask those questions, and I bet you’ll find that there’s a lot more beneath the surface than you expected.
