Career Path Most of my career has been in SF Bank, which I still hold dear to my heart. But now I am a Project Coordinator in Creative Services where my accounting background gives me the tools to keep projects and our team on task and organized.

I have been an employee at State Farm for over eight years now. Previously I was a branch manager for a local bank. Coincidently, I met a manager for the Multicultural Business Department through a mutual friend at lunch. Later, I was contacted by a State Farm Bank manager who encouraged me to apply for a position in the recently opened bank, where I began my career with State Farm. I really feel that I was able to be a leader early in my development here because I came into the Bank while it was still in the development stages. I jumped into new teams where we were able to analyze the needs and develop the processes and procedures that others now follow. I love that!

Currently, I am a project coordinator in the Creative Services Department where my day mainly consists of staying organized and assisting my team in our goal to provide creative thinking and media expertise. My job today is proof of the diversity of fields at State Farm; I went from accounting at the bank to leading creative media teams. I never had a sincere interest in working for a large corporation like State Farm because I like to feel part of something making an impact, not just a number. But much to my surprise, I quickly realized that State Farm values and empowers each employee on every level! For being such a large company, it amazes me how much they are able to demonstrate that they truly care about and believe in each individual employee. There is a feeling of “family” here, not just a place of employment.

State Farm truly does care about work/life balance. Thanks to great managers during my career and the availability of flexible work schedules, my ability to balance work with my personal life has been a success. And that has not always come easy as my husband and I are foster parents.

Working for State Farm is amazing! My best piece of advice for a potential employee is to remember in all that you do, no matter what your title is, be a leader. Being a leader means demonstrating a passion for what you do, motivation to be all you can, demonstrating a sincere desire for the success of the enterprise, a sincere appreciation for diversity and respect for everyone you come into contact with.
