Career Path Started State Farm in SFPP. After working there for approximately 2 years, I decided to pursue my education.  I transferred to Ad Services and worked part time in Word Processing.  In 2003, I relocated from Westlake OC to Bakersfield OC where I worked full-time in Word Processing as a Lead Worker for approximately one year before accepting a job in Auto (Assigned Risk unit). While working for Assigned Risk, I was proud to be the Spanish speaking contact for the unit. In 2008 I decided to continue my education and accepted a position in Administrative Services in the CIOS Unit.

I started my career at State Farm about 10 years ago as I was highly recommended by a friend for a position in Administrative Services. My function here varies day to day, each day I am assigned to specific job functions to help my co-workers if they need the help in order to ensure we zero out on a daily basis. When time permits, our supervisors will give us the opportunity to work toward developing ourselves through on-line courses, job shadowing, etc. Through my years here, I have learned that State Farm is interested in each employee’s well being, extremely flexible while promoting education.  Our management is easy going, very approachable. While attending college, my supervisor has gone above and beyond by allowing me to take time off when I am in need of time to prepare for final exams, etc. Because of such support, I am able to succeed at work and focus on my education while raising my three children.

Throughout my career here, one of the most interesting projects I was able to work on was while working in Word Processing as I was involved in implementing a new virtual system for the zone. This virtual system allows Word Processing operators the opportunity to access dictation servers within other zones to help with transcription of workload throughout the enterprise. My role as a Lead in the unit was to review the entire manual for the virtual application, train the operators on the VXP Player software while assuring our customers’ needs were met.  During this time, I also logged any system glitches and/or errors that occurred. It was a really great feeling to be a pioneer at this new system.

Outside of work, State Farm has made it easy for me to balance work with leisure. I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer my time representing State Farm by working Summer Socials for the Chamber of Commerce, Heartland Saloon, and Habitat for Humanity.By allowing me to represent this company while volunteering my time outside of work, I feel that management appreciates me by allowing me to make a difference outside of the company.

For a new employee at State Farm I would definitely say most important, take advantage of the many opportunities State Farm has to offer.  From receiving financial reimbursement for education to attending on-line classes or various developmental opportunities not only work related but on a personal level. My time spent at State Farm has been amazing.
