Department/Concise Job Description/Years Spent at State Farm Customer Response Center Supervisor for the Spanish Translation Services Unit.
Location Texas
Career Path I began my career with State farm in October of 2000 as a Customer Response Center Representative. In May of 2001 I was promoted to the position of ES Training Specialist. In December of 2004 I was promoted to CRC Supervisor for the Spanish Interpretation Services Unit; and in February of 2006 I transitioned over to the Spanish Translation Services Unit.
My career with State Farm started in October of 2000 when family reasons caused me to move to El Paso, Texas. I decided to look for part-time employment and heard State Farm was offering employment opportunities, when I went to purchase insurance. During my initial training at State Farm, I realized that the friendliness and support I felt were not a mere pretense. It was then that I changed my mind about moving back to California to become a teacher. I thought I could try to become a training specialist and stay with this company. When I had the opportunity to join the Training Department six months later, I decided to make State Farm my career.
Presently, I work in the Spanish Translation Services Unit where my day usually consists of reviewing documents that have been translated. I spend a lot of time searching through dictionaries, discussing the best way to translate colloquial phrases and terms which may exist in one language but not the other, and doing research on the Internet.
Coming to work at State Farm has really opened my eyes; in fact, I had a very negative impression of the insurance industry before coming here. I grew up in a very close-knit family where my parents always stressed integrity and hard work. When I first came to State Farm I found a company whose values aligned with those I had learned as a child. I also found it to be a place where people care about you and who you are. State Farm is truly an agglomeration of diverse people with diverse talents who really do make it their business to be like a good neighbor both to our customers and to each other.
