Time Off Benefits

Whether you're recovering from an illness or you just need to relax and re-energize, it's important to have time for yourself or to be with your family. Our time-off programs are generous and flexible—several are offered in hourly increments so you may take the time as you need it, when you need it.

For pleasure and relaxation

Family PlayingVacation
As a new-hire, vacation time for your first year will be pro-rated, up to ten days.  The exact number of days will be determined by the month you begin work. After your first year, you'll receive 10 to 30 vacation days annually, based on years of Company service.

Personal Time
As a State Farm employee, you'll have up to 3 days of paid personal time annually to use for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Weddings
  • Religious observances

Educational Support
State Farm supports and encourages your involvement with the schools in your community.  As a State Farm employee you will be eligible for up to one paid day per year to volunteer at a school.

To bond with your child

Paid Adoption Leave
State Farm’s Adoption Leave provides up to four weeks of paid time off for bonding or for activities involved for the purpose of adoption. Activities include travel time required to bring the child home and applies to both domestic and international adoptions.

In addition, some adoption expenses may qualify for reimbursement under our Adoption Assistance Benefit.

Family Leave
Under State Farm's Family Leave policy, you may take up to 12 weeks off for the birth or adoption of your child.

To recover from illness or injury

Paid Sick Leave
Our Paid Sick Leave program provides salary continuation when you're unable to work because you're sick or injured.  The number of paid sick days available annually is based on Company service. 

For other obligations

Under our Permission Leave Program, management may grant you additional paid time off for visits to the doctor or dentist, to care for a family member who is sick or injured, to attend a funeral, or for other obligations.
