State Farm® Strong Neighborhoods
Home Ownership
"Sustaining safe, strong and better educated communities"
State Farm takes a comprehensive approach to the economic development of a community.
The condition of available housing and commercial services greatly affects the quality of life for residents and the stability of a community.
We work with responsible neighborhood organizations who share our business-oriented objective of healthy neighborhoods.
Thus, we are able to leverage their knowledge and expertise to further strengthen and revitalize communities. We demonstrate our commitment by helping to:
- Promote first-time homeownership
- Eliminate barriers to homeownership
- Educate home buyers about insurance, loss mitigation and home ownership
- Foster economic development and revitalization
- Rehabilitate neighborhoods or communities
- Make affordable housing available.
Habitat for Humanity International
Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical Christian ministry that welcomes to its work all people dedicated to the cause of eliminating poverty housing. State Farm has partnered with Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) and Habitat affiliates for over 12 years, contributing our time, labor and contributions totaling more than $2 million. This year we are proud to sponsor Habitat for Humanity’s Youth Programs. In 2007, $1.1 million will be underwritten for programs designed to engage young leaders in a meaningful way by encouraging activism and advocacy.

LULAC National Housing Commission
LULAC, the League of United Latin American Citizens, understands the importance of homeownership in the development of the Hispanic community. In October 2005, the National LULAC Housing Commission, a subsidiary of National LULAC, was formed to expand housing opportunities for the Latino community. Based in Dallas, Texas, the LNHC believes that home ownership is the key to the long-term economic progress and wealth accumulation of the Latino community, and that safe and stable neighborhoods are essential to individual achievement and community vitality. The LNHC’s primary purpose is to promote affordable housing, economic development and job creation opportunities for disadvantaged and low- to moderate income families in the United States. State Farm is a National Corporate Sponsor of LNHC.
LULAC understands the importance of homeownership in the development of the Hispanic community. Studies show that children raised in family-owned homes perform better in school, live in neighborhoods with lower crime rates and generally enjoy a better quality of life. Homeownership is also the best method of accumulating wealth and economic empowerment. The LNHC believes that more attention and resources must be placed on the building of quality affordable homes to create a viable and stable community. To accomplish this, the LNHC is directly involved as partners with developers and builders to ensure that the housing stock that is being built meets the needs of the Hispanic consumer.
Home Buyer Seminars have been a key component of the LULAC Home Buyer Center’s strategy for expanding home ownership opportunities. The LULAC National Housing Commission believes that by educating the Hispanic homebuyer, home ownership rates will continue to grow. These seminars are held in locations throughout the United States to make it more readily accessible to the Hispanic community. Seminars are conducted and organized by the LNHC, local LULAC councils, Corporate Partners and other housing organizations. |
