A bill is expected soon from Representative Doris Matsui of California that would establish federal incentives for states that adopt and enforce statewide building codes. The adoption and enforcement of statewide building codes based on nationally-recognized standards can greatly reduce the property damage and personal injury resulting from catastrophes.
