Immediate Response

  • More than 5,600 employees and independent adjusters were assigned to the Gulf Coast states impacted by Katrina.

  • State Farm call centers answered more than 800,000 calls following Katrina.

  • Nearly 15,000 State Farm associates contributed more than $2.6 million to the American Red Cross Relief Fund following the hurricane. In total, State Farm and its associates donated nearly $6.2 million to the relief effort.

  • The properties of 100 State Farm agents and associates were directly impacted by Katrina.


Claims

  • More than 295,000 homeowners, commercial and National Flood Insurance Program claims reported as a result of Katrina.

  • More than 99,000 auto claims have been reported as a result of Katrina.

  • More than 98 percent of claims have been resolved.

  • More than 80 percent of the State Farm claims enrolled in the Mississippi Mediation Program have ended in agreement.


Payments

  • State Farm has paid more than $3.6 billion in claims as a result of Katrina. This figure does not include payments to policyholders from the National Flood Insurance Program.

  • More than $1.3 billion in claim payments have been made in Mississippi. This doesn’t include payments made under the National Flood Insurance Program.

  • More than $2.2 billion in claim payments have been made in Louisiana. This doesn’t include payments made under the National Flood Insurance Program.


Engineering Firms

  • State Farm used an engineering firm in more than 1100 claims, less than two percent, of the over 84,700 property claims in the state of Mississippi.
