State Farm's Response

In a typical year, State Farm® receives between 600,000 - 800,000 catastrophe claims. In 2005, we received that number in a six week period immediately following Katrina.

Since then, more than 99 percent of all claims have been resolved.

In total, State Farm has paid more than $3.1 billion in claims as a result of Katrina, which does not include payments to policyholders from the National Flood Insurance Program.

In addition, nearly 15,000 State Farm associates contributed more than $2.6 million to the American Red Cross Relief Fund following the hurricane. In total, State Farm and its associates donated more than $6 million to the relief effort.
