Honor just one of several 2009 diversity recognitions
Bloomington, Ill. (July 20, 2009) – State Farm® has been named one of the “40 Best Companies” by Black Enterprise (BE) magazine for the third consecutive year.
The July issue of the magazine features the top 40 companies that demonstrated strength and outperformed competitors in one or more of four categories: employee base, senior management, supplier diversity and board of directors. This year BE recognized State Farm for achievement in the senior management category.
“Our commitment to diversity and inclusion, at all levels and in all aspects of the organization, is an integral part of how we do business,” said Laura Haas, assistant vice president of diversity/human resources. “It is a mindset within our culture that helps us continue to achieve our business goals and meet the needs of our customers.”
The five-page article features companies that continue to hire, despite economic downturn. State Farm currently offers positions in a variety of departments, including claims and underwriting.
The honors were determined by analyzing the responses to a survey of major corporations. Diversity executives and CEOs of the top 1,000 publicly traded companies and the diversity executives of the 50 leading global companies with strong U.S. operations were surveyed. This is the third year State Farm has participated.
Also, for the second year in a row, the National Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA) and WorkplaceDiversity.com selected State Farm as one of the “2009 Best Companies for Blacks in Technology.” State Farm is one of ten companies awarded.
