State Farm® Reports Its Significant Progress In The Environment, Society And The Economy

State Farm contributes to safer, stronger, better-educated communities

Bloomington, Illinois, April 17, 2008 -- Today State Farm reports its reduction in Green House Gas (GHG) emissions and other economic and societal factors as outlined today in the S.E.E. Change Progress Report released by the Business Roundtable of which State Farm is a member. This initiative is designed to promote better business and a better world.

State Farm has long practiced environmental responsibility demonstrated in the spaces the company creates and manages. State Farm is committed to cost-effective and environmentally responsible control of (GHG) emissions. Between 2002 and 2006, State Farm voluntarily reduced its GHG emissions intensity by 38.7 percent – far exceeding its intensity goal of an 18 percent reduction by 2012.

State Farm is the largest corporate contributor to the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH), one of the fastest-growing disaster preparedness organizations in the nation. Through this relationship, FLASH provides safety education to homebuilders, inspectors, architects, and engineers about the need for safer, better built homes. Through State Farm’s support, FLASH has helped hundreds of thousands of homeowners prepare for and recover from disasters.

State Farm is a leader in revitalizing communities through partnerships that include the Local Incentives Support Corporation, NeighborWorks® America and Habitat for Humanity.  State Farm is the sole sponsor of Habitat for Humanity’s youth programs and is working to encourage the next generation of community builders.
