State Farm Bayou Classic®

Due to Hurricane Katrina, the 32nd State Farm Bayou Classic® will temporarily relocate to the city of Houston. Dubbed the "granddaddy" of African American collegiate sporting events and the "Super Bowl" of black college football, this year's Bayou Classic will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Reliant Stadium. The kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST. Tickets can be ordered through TicketMaster.

Historic rivalry between Southern and Grambling Everyone loves a grudge match. And that's what football fans can expect at the 30th Bayou Classic sponsored by State Farm Insurance Companies®. Every year, the game is a sell-out, attracting more than 72,000 fans. It'll be another terrific game this year as Southern University Jaguars and Grambling State University Tigers football teams line up on the field of the Louisiana Superdome to battle it out!

In 1996, State Farm® entered a three-year title sponsorship with the two historically black universities which was renewed for an additional three-year title sponsorship in 1999. This year State Farm has again renewed for an additional three-year title sponsorship. While the historic football rivalry is the heart of the Bayou Classic, State Farm and the two universities provide numerous activities to students, alumni and guests alike during that entire weekend.

Weekend activities kick off with the Coaches Luncheon on Fri., Nov. 26 at 11 a.m., the SF Neighborhood of Knowledge®, and the Super Job Fair at Noon. Guests might also like to see the Battle of the Bands/Greek Show at 6 p.m. on Nov. 26. The Bayou Classic Football Game and the Associates Reception are on Nov. 27. State Farm associates are encouraged to take advantage of the Hospitality Suite on game day to talk with other agents and employees and watch the game on several big-screen TVs. You must have pre-registered and received passes to enter these two events.
