State Farm® Increases New York Auto Insurance Rates
State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, the largest insurer of autos in the nation, is raising its overall rate level in New York an average of 1.6 percent. The change was effective April 12 for new customers and takes effect May 10 for current customers.

State Farm® Announces State Farm To Sponsor Local Travel Assistance Programs
New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Acting Commissioner Stanley Gee today announced that State Farm Insurance will sponsor the Highway Emergency Local Patrol (HELP) traveler assistance service, beginning on January 1, 2010. The sponsorship agreement will bring up to $10.8 million to New York State over the next five years.

The average cost per claim – about $15,000 – related to water damage from frozen pipes increased 33 percent between 2007 and 2008, State Farm reports.

State Farm® Announces New Agent in Queens Village
State Farm is pleased to announce the opening of the John Hogan Agency located at 112-34 Francis Lewis Boulevard in Queens Village, New York. Hogan, who has been providing insurance and financial services to members of the community since December, will host an Open House on July 11, 2009 from 11:00am-3:00pm. The Open House will include food, refreshments, giveaways, and an official ribbon cutting ceremony taking place at 12:00pm.

Pound for Pound, these students are pulling their weight! Ballston Spa students gathered more than 2000 pounds in pennies and other coins in the Fall of 2008. On May 4, they will come to the State Farm operations center to announce the recipients of the $8,000 in coins they harvested.

State Farm® Youth Advisory Board Awards Metro New York Grants Totaling $155,000
The State Farm Youth Advisory Board presented two grants today in Metro New York totaling $155,000.00. Children for Children received $55,000 for an environmental responsibility project and Common Cents received $100,000 for a project centered on access to higher education programs. The presentation took place at Public School 1 located at 8 Henry St in New York City.
