Q: Who does State Farm share information with?
A: We do not share information with outside companies for their own marketing purposes. Here are the types of information we do share:
- We may share customer information among our family of companies. Some examples of members of our family of companies include our insurance, bank and mutual fund companies.
- We may share information with companies that assist us in conducting our business, for example with an auto body shop to speed up repairs on an auto damage claim.
- We may share information with outside organizations as necessary to handle your claim and to protect you against fraud and unauthorized transactions.
Q: Why do you share information among your family of companies? A: Sharing information among our family of companies can save time and money. We may share information about you as needed to:
- Enhance customer service
- Underwrite your policies
- Monitor customer trends
- Measure your interest in our products and services
- Improve existing products and to develop new ones
Q: Do you sell my information to marketers outside the State Farm family? A: No, we do not. State Farm values the privacy of our customers and does not sell, or otherwise share, any customer information with marketers offering their own products and services outside the State Farm family.
Q: Do you currently share information with outside companies?
A: We only share information with companies that assist us in conducting our business. Contractually, we require them to keep the information that we provide to them about our customers confidential and use the information only to provide services we've asked them to perform.
Q: Why do you need to share my information with outside companies? A: State Farm identifies and utilizes the services of outside companies to service our customers. For example, we may use an outside company to help us mail State Farm correspondence to you.
Q: What is your policy for sharing customer medical information? A: We do not share customer medical information with anyone within the State Farm family of companies, unless you expressly authorize it, or unless your insurance policy contract with us permits us to do so.
