State Farm and Habitat Challenge Youth to Build the Future

State Farm has been a sponsor of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) and Habitat affiliates for over 12 years, contributing almost $2.5 Million to help build safer, stronger, and better educated communities. Connecting State Farm’s dedication to community development with our enterprise focus on connecting with the youth market, State Farm will serve as the 2007 Corporate Underwriter and Primary Sponsor for Habitat Youth Programs throughout the United States.

“This new alliance with State Farm is an exciting one,” said Mark Crozet, senior vice president of Development for Habitat for Humanity. “This groundbreaking sponsorship for Habitat’s Youth Programs reflects State Farm’s belief that for communities to thrive, young people must be empowered as leaders”.”

With more than 8 different youth programs under the Youth Program Department, this opportunity will enable State Farm to align with Habitats’ community recognition and brand. Our partnership vision is to:

  1. Engage young leaders in a meaningful way by encouraging activism and advocacy
  2. Integrate Habitat for Humanity community service with school curriculums that enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, encourage lifelong engagement and strengthen communities
  3. Increase the number of U.S. Habitat affiliates who are reaching out to today’s youth
  4. Contribute to the number of Habitat homes being constructed annually

The Youth Programs department at Habitat for Humanity International seeks to engage young people, ages 5 to 25, worldwide and involve them as leaders in their communities and advocates for poverty and homelessness. Youth ages 5 - 15 participate in activities such as fund raising, educating others about poverty housing and homelessness, and partnering with homeowners and their children to make them feel at home in their new house. Youth ages 16 – 25 are encouraged to do these same things in addition to building a Habitat house.

There are numerous events and opportunities for State Farm retirees to get involved in their local communities. Visit www.habitat.org or www.habitatyouthprograms.org for information about volunteering with Habitat or to find your local Habitat affiliate.
