Phishing Attempts

Alert: Recent Phishing attempts have been brought to our attention by consumers who received items in their e-mail stating it was from statefarm.com®. (Last Updated 07/13/07)

The phishing attempts were in the form of a email that was crafted using the statefarm.com domain name as the sender, thus giving them the appearance that they were from State Farm. Different phishing attempts include and are not limited to:

• A link sent requiring the consumer to click on the link and it will attempt to download mal-ware on the consumers computer.
• Consumer receives a “post card” appearing to be accessing postcards.com or associated sites, while it is attempting to apply mal-ware onto the consumers computer system.

Ensuring that your computer's anti-virus software is properly installed, configured, and updated can help reduce the effectiveness of such attempts.
