State Farm offers both one time text message programs as well as subscription text services.
State Farm offers one time text message programs. You will not be enrolled in any recurring text message program or text message “mailing list”. Customers may text a keyword (FAST, QUICK, CAR, SAVE, and AUTO) to 78836 (ST8FM) and receive information on how you can save on auto insurance. State Farm also offers subscription text message programs. Customer may ask their agent to enroll them in a text message alert program. Your State Farm agent will enroll you in this service, and you will have an opportunity to confirm or decline the service via a reply to an initial text message you receive from your agent. By replying YES to this message received from 78836 (ST8FM) you are confirming a subscription to this text message program. You will not be enrolled in a “mailing list” when you subscribe to this service. Message frequency varies

Participation in the programs on this short code are standard rated (no premium content). By providing your consent to participate in this program, you approve any such charges from your mobile carrier. Charges for text messages may appear on your mobile phone bill or be deducted from your prepaid balance. Consumers and policyholders can text message the State Farm short code of 78836 (ST8FM) with a keyword to receive these services. State Farm reserves the right to terminate this SMS service, in whole or in part, at any time without notice. The information in any message may be subject to certain time lags and/or delays. You are responsible for managing the types of SMS texts you receive. If you have any questions or need help, text HELP to 78836 (ST8FM), or call 1-888-559-1922.
To stop receiving text messages, text STOP, STOP ALL, END, QUIT, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or ARRET to 78836. By enrolling in this subscription program, you consent that following such a request to unsubscribe, you will receive one (1) final message from State Farm confirming that you have been inactivated in our system. Following such confirmation message, no additional text messages will be sent unless you re-activate your subscription.

A: For our one time query service you just have to send in a keyword. If you would like the subscription service, then yes you need to register by contacting your State Farm agent.
