Every Friday night when the lights in high school stadiums across California flickered on, teams were not just competing to win the game. They played for a chance to get money for their schools through the State Farm Friday Night Feats competition.

This season, four California high schools won $2,500 for their video submission of football feat, winners included:

  • Redwood High School in Larkspur
  • Foothill High School in Tustin
  • San Lorenzo High School in San Lorenzo
  • Yucaipa High School in Yucaipa

While they were recognized as having some of this season’s biggest moments in high school football, each school also became eligible to be a finalist. Two of these teams, Redwood HS and Yucaipa HS, made it to the top 10 finalists.

It was the second year Yucaipa has been a finalist. “We are always excited and very honored to be recognized,” said Yucaipa High School Principal Sherry Smith.

The panel of judges that select the 10 biggest moments for the Friday Night Feats included Scout.com Recruiting Experts Allen Trieu, Bill Greene and Brandon Huffman; and SIKids.com Kid Reporter Sarah Rodriguez.

With education at all levels in dire need of financial assistance, a deposit by State Farm into the bank accounts of 52 schools around the country for their Friday Night Feats was a welcome surprise.

With their recent Friday Night Feat success, many parents and school supporters are hoping to get the top prize next year. State Farm Agent Zulien Morales said, “San Lorenzo was my home from 8th grade through my senior year and it holds a special place in my heart. I want nothing but great things to come to this school! Next year we’re going to win the $15,000.”
