Hacienda Heights Chinese School was the recent recipient of a $1,200 grant courtesy of the State Farm® Diamond Heights Agency Field Office and Rowland Heights State Farm Agent Lili Yu.

Established in 1982, the school was formed by a group of Chinese parents to provide Chinese-language instruction to their American-born children. The school has a mission to provide its students learning opportunities through classroom instruction and cultural events that foster understanding and a life-long appreciation of Chinese culture, heritage, and philosophy.

“Supporting education early on is important,” said State Farm Agency Field Consultant Nate Nguyen, representing the Diamond Heights Agency Field Office. “This support will help the students to foster basic foundational needs so they can further their educational advancement.”

The funds will be used to purchase much-needed computers, books, supplies, and other essential materials to advance the educational goals of the school.

“It’s important as a State Farm agent that I have a continuous presence in my community,” said Yu. “This local Chinese school has a strong influence on the upbringing of children in the Chinese culture. This donation helps the school to improve its learning environment. At State Farm, we try to make a difference in our community, little by little, yet we want to do a good job of making memorable experiences for our students – now, and in the future.”
