State Farm® Helps Canoga Park Fire Department Update Station 72

The Woodland Hills Agency Field Office of State Farm Insurance® made a $6,000 donation to the Canoga Park Fire Department that will be used to improve the quality of life for those who serve this community every day.

State Farm Woodland Hills Agency Field Executive Office members Kathy Watrous, Glen White, Coralie Garibay, James Rozelle, and B.J. Johnson were on hand to present this much-appreciated donation.

“I was very surprised to learn our firefighters are personally responsible for maintaining their own trucks and facility, and that they no longer get a uniform allowance,” said Watrous. “The items provided by State Farm for Canoga Park Fire Station 72 were definitely appreciated by the LAFD assigned personnel. Our Woodland Hills Agency Field Office is proud to help make a difference. It was the least we could do for those who protect our community 24/7.”

“The donation from State Farm couldn't have come at a better time,” said Firefighter Mark Stubblefield. “Most people don’t realize firefighters purchase their own cooking and laundering equipment, tools, computers, televisions, newspapers and meals. This equipment gets used day in and day out, and when something wears out, it’s the firefighters who purchase the new equipment or repair it themselves.”

“Station 72 has 12 members here every day – it’s an understatement to say our equipment was exhausted. When State Farm offered to make a donation to our fire station, we were more than grateful. With the tools given to us, we remodeled our laundry room to make room for two new sets of stackable washers and dryers that were also provided by State Farm. More rooms are being remodeled because we now have the right tools for the job. Our new barbeque is a hit – our firefighters grill our meals on it nearly every day.”
