State Farm Provides $5,000 Grant to Glendale Fire Department

Fire Department Captain Skidmore, State Farm Public Affairs Specialist Eddie Martinez, and Fire Department Chief Harold Scoggins.

Fire Chief Harold Scoggins and Captain Craig Skidmore from the Glendale Fire Department recently accepted a $5,000 grant from State Farm Insurance at their Glendale headquarters.

It was Glendale Agency Field Executive Juan Hernandez who recognized a need in this area and went into action to assist these firefighters with this need. State Farm’s donation supports both hazardous materials and urban search and rescue training for 11 area fire departments. The funds will also help to supply essential materials and props related to the mitigation of and response to mass casualty and terrorism incidents in the Los Angeles areas.

“We’re very grateful to State Farm for this donation,” said Captain Skidmore. “Because of our diminishing county budgets, many of our fire departments lack needed resources. That’s when State Farm Insurance stepped in to help.”

“It was our pleasure to be able to assist the Glenda Fire Department with this grant,” said State Farm Public Affairs Specialist Eddie Martinez. “I don’t think our community members realize that many fire department expenses are not covered by their operating budgets. It’s gratifying to know that through our giving, State Farm can help keep their emergency response practices up-to-date, which makes us all feel safer as a community.”
