State Farm was parked at the 5th annual Mile of Quarters event as the one-eighth mile marker sponsor for the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley event on September 24. Kids and adults alike lay out quarters for one mile, stretching through The Canyon at Westfield Topanga. The mile of quarters, which totaled $15,750, will be used to support the Club`s youth programs for the area’s needy children.

State Farm Agents Joyce Emerson-Greenberg (Woodland Hills) and Juliet Lee (Chatsworth) were there along with three of Emerson-Greenberg’s staff: Elaine Barbagallo, Jessica Pope, and Katie Pieroni. The Good Neigh Bear® lent a paw to the activities as well.

The State Farm team of volunteers enjoyed a busy time as they helped advertise raffle prizes and handed out raffle tickets while the Good Neigh Bear helped get the kids excited and pumped up. They handed out balloons, gave out gift bags, and helped little kids get around, and helped lay down the mile of 63,000 quarters donated to the cause. Combined donations for the event totaled $36,000 – a considerable and welcome increase from last year’s $17,000.

Emerson-Greenberg said, “Our office has been volunteering our time with the West Valley Boys & Girls Club for the past two years. We chose this organization because of the positive impact they have on the youth in our community. At the event we were able to help collect additional donations for the club which also gave us the opportunity to show what a Good Neighbor State Farm is.”

“It was a lot of fun too,” she added. “We got a lot of great photos with the Good Neigh Bear with local businesses and shoppers in the Topanga Mall. Our goal is to always be remarkable in the work we do both in the office and out in the community.”
