In San Pedro, Calif., family safety was front and center on October 23 when Kids Are 1st partnered with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and State Farm Insurance for the Fall Family Traffic and Health Safety Fair.

The event featured several activities designed to educate families and increase community safety. Kids Are 1st, an organization dedicated to the protection of children and education of families, was able to fingerprint and photograph over 125 children and teenagers. The LAPD corrected more than 30 child safety seats that had been installed incorrectly. The event also featured a “No Texting and Driving” RV that brought information and awareness to attendees about the hazards and consequences of distracted driving.

“Even the threat of rain did not deter the many smiles from those parents and children who attended the fair,” said Cathy Lukovich, agent staff in State Farm Agent Jeff Lukovich’s office.

State Farm has a longstanding commitment to making kids safer on the roads. From supporting effective safety legislation to helping automakers improve safety features in vehicles, State Farm plays a role in raising public awareness of auto safety issues including the proper installment of car seats.

“What better way to be a Good Neighbor than to provide some security to those parents whose children are now safer in their car seats,” said State Farm Agent Leslie Peterson.
