The downpour of rain in Sacramento didn’t deter a team of State Farm agents and employees who walked like “MADD” to raise money for their local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.

State Farm Agency Field Specialist Amy Evans helped organize the walk team that raised more than $1,700 for the local Sacramento MADD chapter. They used Facebook and other social media sites to help promote the effort.

“Being the National Presenting Sponsor allowed us to find more support for our walk team through social media,” said Evans. One agent, Tyler Beck, vowed he would make a significant contribution if he surpassed a threshold of “likes” on Facebook.

State Farm agents in Sacramento also helped publicize the event by sending out postcards provided by MADD to their customers.

State Assemblymember Roger Dickinson lauded State Farm for its participation in the event as the National Presenting Sponsor. The Walk like MADD event in Sacramento was one of several held throughout the state and country.

State Farm is supportive of the goals of MADD, the nation’s largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving and underage drinking.

Despite the rain, the Good Neigh Bear® made a special appearance to walk with participants. “While the rain wasn’t optimal for a walk, it did refocus everyone to remember why we were walking and the sober reality of drunk driving,” said Evans.
