Last July, the Fullerton Boys and Girls Club hit a “home run” at Angel Stadium, when they received a $50,000 grant from State Farm as a result of being matched with the winning ball player in the Major League Baseball State Farm Home Run Derby.

Now, with the recent completion of their renovated teen center, the club is still celebrating their good fortune. The club used the $50,000 State Farm grant and donations of materials and labor from local contractors to complete a $130,000 renovation of their Fullerton Club and teen center.

Rainfall on the day of the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new center didn’t dampen spirits. Local city leaders, representatives of Major League Baseball, the Angels, and State Farm were on hand along with the teens at club to enjoy a celebration at the center that now has an outdoor ball field, batting cages, a music studio, renovated kitchen facilities and meeting rooms.

State Farm Agent Rhonda Shader of Fullerton addressed the crowd. “State Farm is all about being there for life’s big moments and that is what the State Farm Home Run Derby is all about that,” she said. “I am happy to be here today and recognize the work of the volunteers and staff at this club, especially the teens – thank you for the work you do.”

State Farm Agency Field Executive Ellen Williams and Fullerton Agents George Montgomery and Daniel Park also joined the celebration.

State Farm has donated more than 1.5 million dollars to Boys & Girls Clubs since beginning its partnership with Major League Baseball in 2007.
