Redwood High School in Larkspur Earns $2,500 for “The Catch”

Friday Night Feats

In January of 1982, San Francisco 49er quarterback Joe Montana threw a last minute touchdown pass to receiver Dwight Clark that has become one of the most famous plays in NFL history. The play, where Clark seemed to defy gravity by leaping to make a fingertip grab, has come to be known simply as “The Catch.”

Twenty-eight years later, Redwood High School in Larkspur has gained national notoriety with a play by the same name. Redwood’s version of “The Catch” earned the school $2,500 for its Top 10 finish in the State Farm-sponsored Friday Night Feats program.

The competition, where videos of outstanding high school football plays from around the nation were voted on by the general public in December, awarded over $150,000 in total prize money. With education at all levels in dire need of financial assistance, Friday Night Feats made a nice deposit into the bank accounts of 52 schools around the country.
