Oakland Woman Receives $20,600 for National 4-H Council from State Farm “Go To Bat” Program

October 28, 2010 – With a few virtual swings of the bat, Helen Stevenson scored a big hit for her favorite charity, the National 4-H Council. The Oakland, Calif. resident participated in State Farm® and Major League Baseball’s® (MLB) “GO TO BAT” program. Stevenson was selected in July as the first weekly winner in the program, which was an online initiative driven by State Farm’s commitment to being there for the community and supporting those that are making a difference for life’s big moments.

Stevenson’s selected charity, National 4-H Council, received a $100 donation for each of the 206 home runs hit in MLB games during the week of July 19-25 – a grand total of $20,600.

“We’re excited to see how the home-run talent of Major League Baseball can benefit worthy organizations like the National 4-H Council,” said State Farm Bay-Area Vice President Michael Wang. “We’re thrilled that Mrs. Stevenson will have the chance to personally experience the 2010 World Series, while at the same time, helping an organization that she believes in.”

Stevenson was also awarded a trip for two to the 2010 World Series for an on-field ceremony before Game 4 between the San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers, showcasing the cumulative impact of the program. State Farm also will award a $25,000 donation to the charity that received the most overall support throughout the course of the promotion.
