State Farm® partners to provide important financial advice

Julie Stav teaches the adult students of PUENTE Learning Center about finances.

State Farm brings back our long-time friend and financial expert Julie Stav to provide life-changing advice concerning important financial matters. While partnering with the PUENTE Learning Center, State Farm hosted Stav on Wednesday June 8, 2011 at the PUENTE Learning Center in Boyle Heights. More than 100 attendees filled the PUENTE Learning Center auditorium to hear the financial expert and best-selling author provide life-changing advice concerning important financial matters.

Stav’s presentation was part of an overall effort by PUENTE Learning Center and State Farm Insurance to provide adult students from PUENTE and other residents of the Boyle Heights neighborhood with greater financial literacy.

“Financial literacy is critical for the continued advancement of our communities. Julie Stav did an outstanding job with relating to the audience and highlighting the benefits a State Farm agent can provide in planning their financial future,” said State Farm Agency Field Executive Cindy Vasquez.

PUENTE Learning Center provides tuition-free educational services to the residents of East and South Los Angeles. What began as a tutoring program for first- and second-grade students now offers family-focused, technology-enhanced classroom instruction to more than 4,100 children, youth, and adults each year.

PUENTE’s East Los Angeles facility in Boyle Heights encompasses 40,000 square feet of workspace in 15 classrooms. Between two of PUENTE’s campuses, there are more than 300 desktop computers, all with Internet access. Locations have multi-purpose rooms that are available both for student activity and use by the community.

Several State Farm associates were on hand making sure the students and community had the best educational experience possible. State Farm Agents Angelica Campos, Zulema Velasquez,  and Bernard Gandara were there to help answer any questions and be a supportive resource.
