State Farm Partners with Arkansas Children’s Hospital

State Farm has partnered with Arkansas Children’s Hospital regularly since 2004, to support Child Safety Seat Check events in Central Arkansas each year. Over 450 child seat positions have been checked at these events, and around 275 new seats have been replaced (free) for those coming to the events. The seat check events are conducted through the ACH Community Outreach program.

Child passenger safety has been one of State Farm’s primary philanthropy and safety focus points for several years. Agents and employees participate as volunteers at the events, and are involved in handing out safety brochures, State Farm items, greeting and visiting with the public, and assisting seat check technicians in various ways. Numerous media reports and impressions have been generated through these efforts.

Arkansas Activities Association

The mission of the Arkansas Activities Association is to promote the value of participation in interscholastic activities in the AAA member schools and to provide services to the schools in a fair and impartial manner while assisting and supporting their efforts to develop thinking, productive and prepared individuals as they become positive, contributing citizens modeling the democratic principles of our state and nation.

State Farm’s association with the AAA goes back to 1994. From that time, Arkansas’s State Farm agents, as AAA sponsors, have been able to present the Championship Trophies in all championships for all sports at the high school level in Arkansas. This has been a great way for agents to be seen as Community Partners, presenting trophies at a “highlight” time for many students, schools, and communities in the state.

As an AAA sponsor, State Farm funds are also used to award ten scholar athlete scholarships each spring to graduating seniors (5 boys, 5 girls) in assistance for the college/university of their choice. To date, approximately $84,000 in scholarships have been awarded in this program.

Economics Arkansas

Economics Arkansas (aka for Arkansas Council on Economic Education) is a private, non-profit, non-partisan, educational organization founded in 1962 by Dr. Bessie B. Moore to promote economic literacy in Arkansas.  Economics Arkansas is a member affiliate with the NCEE (National Council on Economic Education).

The mission of Economics Arkansas is to promote economic literacy and the economic-way of thinking to PreK-12 students in Arkansas by empowering educators to teach the fourth “r,” real life economics. Real life economics teaches students:

  • To invest in their human capital, opening opportunities to the American Dream.
  • Decision-making skills and the costs associated with each decision.
  • Financial skills to better manage their resources in the future.
  • About the global market and their future roles as producers and consumers.

State Farm has partnered with Economics Arkansas since 2006 in providing funds to support Teacher Training programs for Arkansas Teachers which are designed to assist them with curricula and lessons they can incorporate in the classroom—whether teaching math, business, or social studies. State Farm also supports the EconAR “Stock Market” game in Arkansas schools. In 2009, over 11,000 students in Arkansas schools participated in the games.

Supporting financial literacy is one of our philanthropic focus objectives, and State Farm sees the Economics Arkansas program as a great community partner fit.
