Girls Explore Math And Science Through Technology Labs

State Farm hosted the annual Millennium Girls conference Oct. 6. The daylong conference, co-hosted by Illinois State University, encourages fifth through eighth grade girls to consider careers in math, science and technology. Every year Millennium Girls provides four different labs focusing on exciting and unique skills within these fields.

This year participants had the opportunity to learn techniques used by crime scene investigators, while trying to solve a fictional crime.

Participants also developed 3-D architecture skills, and used chemistry concepts to determine how much Vitamin C is in various foods. Google Earth technology helped participants plan a trip to a destination across the globe. 
More than 200 girls participated in this year’s event.
