Metro Detroit Teen Safety Summit

 

On Wednesday, May 18th, 2011 State Farm partnered with the Detroit Police Department and the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) to host the first annual Metro Detroit Teen Safety Summit.

Approximately 125 high school students from Western International, Southeastern and Consortium College Prep attended the event held at Greater Grace Conference Center in Detroit. Participants were exposed to a number of informative workshops, including: Distracted Driving, Rules of the Road, Prom Safety, Under the Influence, etc. Students were also able to try their hands driving an electric vehicle while wearing "fatal vision" goggles as well as experience the consequences of texting and driving on a mobile simulator.

Participants left with a greater understanding of how to be safer drivers and passengers and their overall evaluation of the program was excellent.
