STUDents Taking Action Against Underage Drinking Receive $5K Grant from State Farm®

STUDents Taking Action Against Underage Drinking

Local Dove Creek youth-based safety organization STUDents Taking Action Against Underage Drinking has received a $5,000 Good Neighbor Citizenship® Grant from State Farm. Funds will be used across multiple programs and activities throughout the year focusing on safe teen driving habits, distracted driving, drinking and driving, and promoting refusal to ride with an impaired driver.

“The group gets a lot of assistance from the community including the $5,000 grant from State Farm,” said Dolores County Community Prevention Organizer Kristy Chadd recently at a school board meeting.

STUDents Taking Action Against Underage Drinking is comprised of 35 high school students who have actively been engaging the community to make it a safer place to live.

“This organization carries the message of safety throughout the entire year,” said Cortez State Farm Agent Dennis Morita. “Their overarching safety theme aligns well with State Farm’s approach where instilling good habits through positive reinforcement today can last a lifetime. We’re proud to be a part of the impressive work they’re doing for the benefit of the whole community.”
