State Farm Gives $90,000 Grant to Kenton County School District

The State Farm Youth Advisory Board announced that the Kenton County School District will receive a $90,000 service-learning grant for a sustainable energy project. The Kenton County School District is one of 82 community organizations from across the country to receive a service-learning, youth-led grant. More than 1,100 grant requests were received by the Board. “The State Farm Youth Advisory Board is a prime example of State Farm’s commitment to education, our community and our youth,” said Lisa Ripley, State Farm Public Affairs Specialist. “State Farm supports service-learning because it combines service to the community with classroom curriculum. It is our hope this hands-on approach allows students to master subject material while fostering civic responsibility.”

The Kenton County School District’s program will focus on environmental responsibility. Specifically, the school district will use the funds to design and build an outdoor research lab to showcase the educational and environmental benefits of conserving energy through the use of green technologies. The program promises to positively impact 55,000 people in the area. “Energy management is a critical component of the Kenton County School District’s mission and vision to prepare students for the global workplace and market. The generous grant from State Farm Insurance enables the district to continue its commitment to innovation. It is with the deepest appreciation that the Kenton County School District acknowledges State Farm Insurance for its vision to partner with our district to continue environmental excellence,” said Tim Hanner, Superintendent Kenton County School District.
