Purse auction raises more than $7,000

November 24, 2010 - A recent fund-raiser for Habitat Frederick in Frederick, Md., raised more than just pocket change. The Habitat Purse auction collected over 250 purses and raised more than $7,000 from the donations. The proceeds will be used to help build and maintain affordable homes in Frederick County.

Ron Cramer of Habitat Frederick thanked the State Farm® associates who donated purses to the auction.

“The money raised puts us one step closer to completing the homes we have started on Madison Street in Frederick City for two wonderful ladies and their families – one is a Katrina survivor, leaving New Orleans with just what she could put in her backpack and the other is a cancer survivor who thought she was going to need to find a home for her two girls as she went through cancer treatments. These are well-deserving, struggling families and soon, thanks to State Farm donors, will be getting the keys to their new homes. Thank you State Farm.
