Habitat for Humanity - Anchorage

Habitat for Humanity - Anchorage seeks to build hope as well as homes. Through the homes we build, hope is restored and lives are changed as the cycle of need is broken. How we build is just as important as what we build. Habitat homes are built with a contribution of 250 - 600 hours of "sweat equity" on the part of the Partner Families. By investing themselves in the building process, Partner Families gain self-reliance, self-esteem and new skills.

By investing time, money, materials, and their expertise, Habitat volunteers, donors, organizations, businesses and professional trades gain new relationships, which extend far beyond the immediate impact. Habitat brings together people from all walks of life, with varied skills and economic backgrounds to achieve a common goal of service to others.

North American Outdoor Institute (NAOI)

NAOI is dedicated to providing affordable outdoor safety and environmental awareness education programs for the general public in an effort to reduce outdoor accidents and death rates. To raise awareness of National Emergency Preparedness month (September) and help Alaska residents and visitors get ready in the event of a disaster or emergency. State Farm has been a partner since 2009.

Alaska Chamber of Commerce – Business Week

Alaska Business Week is an exciting and unique experience for high school students. Students spend an intensive week living on a college campus in a simulated “corporate” environment learning business, teambuilding, leadership and life skills. It’s a crash course in the challenges and opportunities of life after high school such as preparing for a career, workplace issues, managing money, networking skills, email etiquette, business ethics and so much more! State Farm is a founding sponsor of the inaugural Alaska Business Week program in the summer of 2010.

Anchorage’s Promise – Alliance For Youth

Anchorage’s Promise is the local affiliate of America’s Promise – The Alliance for Youth. Anchorage’s Promise host the Anchorage's Promise KidsDay annually. The event is designed to strengthen families by providing access to resources and services for all children and youth, offering opportunities to recognize and engage youth in service, and by offering a large and affordable outreach opportunity to youth services to help increase their capacity in serving the communities throughout the Municipality of Anchorage. State Farm has supported this event since 2002.

Alaska Injury Prevention Center

Alaska Injury Prevention Center mission is to prevent injuries in Alaska by using the public health model of injury prevention. We believe that in order to effectively reduce injuries and fatalities in any arena, it is necessary to consider the data that defines the problem. Then, it is possible to implement interventions that address the specific elements of causation and to design interventions relevant to the appropriate population.

The Alaska Injury Prevention Center has coordinated the High School Buckle Up Campaign since 2003. Each year student seat belt use increases- we believe the efforts of this student led campaign makes this so. A pre and post observational survey measures the outcome of the campaign. In addition, this year we aim to put emphasis on distracted driving; texting, cell phone use, MP3 players. Messages of X the text, don't drive inTEXTicated will be featured.
