Kalamazoo, Mich., December 6, 2011 - Rachel McDuffie had never won a contest, but that did not stop her from entering a recent State Farm® sweepstakes to win a new car. Today she is the owner of a brand new, shiny “ingot silver” Ford Focus SE, which she’s picking up tomorrow at Hines Ford in New Hudson.
Rachel, 33, works at the University Of Michigan School Of Public Health. Though it had no bearing on the sweepstakes, she is a life-long, second-generation State Farm customer. She says she was on the State Farm website checking her account when she saw an announcement about the sweepstakes and decided to enter.
Launched during National Teen Driver Safety Week, State Farm conducted the month-long sweepstakes to help inaugurate its new website for teen drivers and their parents: teendriving.statefarm.com. The website features interactive tools, “Road Trips®” and “Road Aware®,” to help parents and teens navigate the learning-to-drive process.
“Karate Kid” Ralph Macchio served as a spokesperson to help State Farm promote the new website and car-giveaway sweepstakes. State Farm also conducted online and social media promotions, garnering over 225,000 entries.
“Even though I don’t have any teen drivers in my home, it’s the sweet sixteen car I always wanted,” says Rachel. I had to pay for my own car so I didn’t get one until I could save enough money, which was much later.”
State Farm says the Ford Focus has many features that made it a great choice for the sweepstakes. It’s an American brand, made in America.
