Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach, CA Awarded $2,500, Moves on in the Running for $15,000 First Prize

San Diego, CA (December 5, 2011) - State Farm Insurance Companies announced that Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach, CA is one of 26 winners from around the country in the second half of Friday Night Feats, a national video contest highlighting the biggest moments from this year's high school football season. Mar Vista High School has been awarded $2,500 and has a chance at a $15,000 grand prize for the video highlighting a play from the 2011 football season. These twenty-six winning videos were determined by fan votes on www.FridayNightFeats.com during the second half of the contest from Oct. 10 through Nov. 28.
“I came across an article regarding the Mar Vista High School senior class needing money for their prom and immediately reached out to the school and encouraged them to submit a video for consideration,” said Imperial Beach State Farm Agent Tracey Rivera. “I'm thrilled to see they were chosen as a second half winner and hope they can advance to the next round!”
Of the four winning videos in this year's contest from California high schools, two came from the San Diego region. Along with second half winner Mar Vista High School, Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, CA was selected by fans as a first half winner in October and also awarded $2,500.
With the second half of Friday Night Feats now closed, State Farm will turn to its panel of judges to narrow the field of “Finalist Nominees” down to the top 10 videos based on the "wow" factor, athleticism, impact of the play, and creativity of the video. The panel includes MaxPreps football experts Stephen Spiewak, Steve Montoya, Andrew Puccioni, Chris Stonebraker, Blake McFarland, as well as SI Kids reporter Evan Trimas.
Viewers have the final word, choosing the first, second, and third place winners by voting for their favorite Dec. 9 through Dec.16. The winners will be announced on Dec. 19. Cash prizes for the top videos are $15,000 for first place, $10,000 for second place and $5,000 for third place.
