State Farm Provides Support for Disaster Recovery
Patterson, New Jersey, September 15, 2011 - During the weeks of August 29, 2011 and September 2, 2011, the City of Paterson received an enormous amount of flooding first by Hurricane Irene and followed quickly by Tropical Storm Lee. As a result of the massive flood many people were evacuated and many homes suffered partial or permanent damage leaving them uninhabitable.
As inquiries came in as to what assistance the community can provide, a PRC-City of Paterson's Hurricane Irene Fund was set-up to receive monetary gifts for those affected by the flood. And as the slogan goes "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there." Yes, State Farm was there, being the first to respond to the PRC-City of Paterson's Hurricane Irene Fund initiative, offering the City a grant in the amount of $10,000 to ensure victims of the Hurricane short and long term needs are met.
"This grant will prove beneficial to citizens impacted by the Hurricane and Tropical Storm" said Paterson Mayor, Jeffery Jones. Director of Department of Health & Human Services, Donna R. Nelson-Ivy said "We are delighted that we have been selected to receive the grant for $10,000 to kick off the PRC-City of Paterson's Hurricane Irene Fund."
The City looks forward to continuing this partnership with State Farm.
