Paul Nicholson Recognized For Work With 9-1-1 Programs

Eureka, CA - The 8th Annual 9-1-1 Honors Gala in Washington DC will honor 11 citizens from across the country for their work with the 9-1-1 program. Included among the honorees will be Eureka State Farm Agent Paul Nicholson.
Nicholson is being recognized for his work over the last 10 years with children in Eureka and surrounding areas on how to dial 9-1-1 when they're faced with an emergency.
The Gala will be held on March 29 at the Ronald Reagan Center. The award for Agent Paul Nicholson will be coming from the E911 Institute located in the nation's capitol. Nicholson is also receiving a proclamation for his public service from California Congressman Mike Thompson.
Nicholson's involvement with 9-1-1 started after he suffered a personal injury a decade ago after falling off a cement truck. His fall landed him in the hospital. His four year old son witnessed the accident and later told his father he didn't know how to call for emergency help. Soon after this discussion, Paul was attending a Red Cross event where he first became familiar with a 9-1-1 simulator, invented by a State Farm employee. The rest is history as Paul purchased his own simulator and has spent the last decade instructing local children how to use the 9-1-1 telephone function.
