State Farm Donates Vehicle To Northland Pines High School

Donation will support shop class education program

Eagle River, WI, May 9, 2011 – Northland Pines High School will accept a donated vehicle from State Farm Insurance during an event tomorrow, May 10, at the high school in Eagle River.

The presentation will begin at 11:00 a.m. at 1800 Pleasure Island Road. State Farm Agent Paul Belcher of Eagle River and Tom Dougherty, an auto estimatics inspector for State Farm, will present the vehicle to David Justice.

“State Farm believes all young people should have access to a quality education that allows them to achieve their greatest potential,” Belcher said. “Donating this vehicle is a great way for State Farm to have a direct impact in the classroom.”

The 2006 Chevy Cobalt will be used in David Justice’s Northland Pines’ Transportation Technology One, Two and Consumer automotive instruction classes. State Farm’s donation will make it possible for students to learn about the latest in automobile technology by studying a recent model vehicle. Students will study the systems of the automobile and will test and disassemble actual components. Among the activities students will perform are tests on the alternator, battery, electronic control modules, power train control modules and coolant pressure. Brake, suspension and steering systems also will be studied and disassembled to understand how they operate.

“This vehicle will be used by male and female students for many years and have a positive impact on their education as it relates to automotive technology,” Justice said. “Thank you, State Farm, for making this donation possible and a very special thank you to Tom Dougherty for arranging this donation and to Badger Truck Repair for transporting the vehicle to our school.”
