Bethlehem, PA, March 21, 2011 – State Farm Insurance recently presented a $5,000 check to the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley in appreciation for the agency’s efforts in helping State Farm customers following a devastation gas explosion in Allentown on Feb. 9.

“State Farm has a long history of partnering with the Red Cross at the local, state and national levels. When disasters happen, we are right behind you,” said Richard Sundstrom, Agency Field Executive for the Lehigh Valley. “We appreciate all you did to help our customers affected by the Allentown explosion and fire.”

In addition to a $5,000 donation, area State Farm agents and employees contributed personal funds to the chapter for local disaster relief.

“We could not do what we do day in and day out without the support of the community and businesses like State Farm Insurance,” Hughes told State Farm representatives. “We are extremely grateful to everyone at State Farm for your most generous donation. Here in the greater Lehigh Valley we respond to an average 117 disasters each year. Whether it’s helping two or 200 people left homeless following an emergency, the Red Cross is there to provide comfort and care.”
