Murfreesboro, Tenn., April 28, 2011State Farm, the largest insurer of homes and autos in Tennessee and the nation, is helping customers affected by the severe thunderstorms which passed through Tennessee yesterday and last night.
As of noon, State Farm has received almost 3,000 homeowners and business claims and 5,700 auto claims. These numbers are expected to rise considerably. The Knoxville and Chattanooga areas were hardest hit.
“We offer our heartfelt sympathy to all those whose lives have been affected by these storms, especially those who have lost loved ones. We are also greatly concerned for the safety of everyone in the affected areas. State Farm will take care of our customers' needs as quickly as possible,” said Vice President of Operations Jeff Shay.
If State Farm policyholders have not yet reported their claim, they are encouraged to contact their State Farm agent, call 1-800-SF Claim (1-800-732-5246) or visit www.statefarm.com.
When it is safe to do so, those with damage to their property, should make reasonable temporary repairs to prevent further damage. Receipts for purchases of items such as taps, plywood or other supplies to make repairs should be saved. If a loss is covered by insurance, these repairs may be reimbursed.
Additional catastrophe claim representatives are in Tennessee assisting over 2,300 State Farm associates who live and work in Tennessee. All are hard at work servicing thousands of policyholders.
