State Farm Responds to Tropical Storm Lee

Duluth, GA, September 6, 2011 - Initial assessments by State Farm, the state’s largest home and auto insurer, indicate more than 300 home and auto claims in the state of Georgia connected to Tropical Storm Lee. State Farm already has additional resources in the affected areas inspecting damage, assisting agents, and taking care of policyholders.

Homeowners who are seeing damage caused by trees should keep in mind when a tree falls, if there is damage to the structure covered by a homeowners’ insurance policy, State Farm will pay a “reasonable” price to have the tree removed from the structure so that repairs can be made. Also, once the tree has been removed from the structure, our homeowners’ policy provides limited coverage to remove debris.

Homeowners with damage to their property should make reasonable temporary repairs to prevent further damage. Save receipts if you purchase items such as tarps and plywood or other supplies to make repairs. If you have a covered loss, these repairs may be reimbursed.

State Farm policyholders are asked to call their agent or 1-(800)-SF-CLAIM (1-800-732-5246) in order to report damage. They can also visit www.statefarm.com.

Helpful Information:

State Farm customers who have reported a loss can expect to be contacted by a claim representative who will review your policy and explain your coverage, outline the claim process and answer questions.
