Agent Allen Wade conducts 'Strapped for Cash' event to encourage seatbelt usage amongst students.
Owensboro, KY, April 7, 2011 - Nothing kills more teens annually than car crashes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 122 young people were involved in fatal car crashes in Kentucky in 2009. State Farm Insurance is working to improve that tragic statistic by providing families, and more specifically young drivers with pertinent information that will help keep them safe on the roadways.
In Owensboro, State Farm Agent Allen Wade partnered with Daviess County High School for a 'Strapped for Cash' event which was designed to encourage young drivers and passengers to buckle up. For every student who arrived at school on March 22, 2011 wearing a seatbelt, Wade rewarded him or her with a dollar. For those not buckled up, it was an important reminder. "The purpose of 'Strapped for Cash' is to urge students to do the right thing behind the wheel, and that starts by wearing a seatbelt," Wade said. Wade handed out about $350.00 to students.
