Paterson, NJ, August 10, 2012 - Representatives from New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC) in Paterson will join local legislators, students and community partners at the Great Falls National Park to receive a $25,000 grant to support the Great Falls Youth Transformation Initiative. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, August 14 at 10:00 a.m.
Under this initiative, the Great Falls Youth Corps – a partnership between NJCDC and the National Park Service – engages Paterson high school students in learning opportunities tied to the area's ecological, social and industrial history. The high school students then use the information they learned to implement hands-on science lessons to over 300 Pre-K to 4th grade students. The programs expands the students' knowledge of the Great Falls National Park, improves the high school students' confidence in their ability to affect change and mentor younger students, and teaches young people how to address local issues and create positive changes in their community.

Members of the National Park Service and Congressman Bill Pascrell have been invited to attend. The public is also welcome to show support for this great program that will benefit the entire community.
